Lisbon Recognition Convention
Definition: Joint UNESCO-Council of Europe treaty that aims to facilitate recognition, by one country, of academic credentials issued in another country. It provides that files must be reviewed in a fair manner and within a reasonable time. Recognition of a diploma may only be refused if it is substantially different from the qualification issued by the host country, which must prove this difference.
